Marie Romano to Appear on TV Tokyo’s “Who Wants to Come to Japan?”
We are delighted to share a news about one of our most inspiring contestant of speech contest, Marie Romano. Marie, who won third prize in the 63rd International Speech Contest in Japanese in 2024, will be featured on the popular TV Tokyo programme 「世界！ニッポン行きたい人応援団」(Who Wants to Come to Japan?). Her episode will air on Monday, 9th June 2025 at 20:54 JST.
In the contest, Marie delivered a moving speech titled “Treasure Found in a Tea Farm”, where she shared her first encounter with matcha during her junior high school years. Her heartfelt story and sincere passion for Japanese tea culture touched many and earned her high praise from the judges, ultimately leading to her award-winning placement.
