The Japan-America Student Conference (JASC) was founded in 1934 by a group of university students with the firm belief that “world peace depends on peace in the Pacific, and peace in the Pacific depends on peace between Japan and the United States. To achieve this, students must also play a role.”
Since its inception, the conference has been held annually—alternating between Japan and the United States each summer for approximately one month—and is planned and managed entirely by students from both countries. The program aims to foster mutual understanding, trust, and friendship between Japanese and American students through open and honest dialogue, thereby contributing to the long-term stability of bilateral relations.
Participants travel together, live together, and engage in in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics including politics, economics, society, education, and culture. The conference also features lectures by experts in various fields, allowing students to explore the current state and future of U.S.-Japan relations and global issues.
